ADAM POWELL

Adam Powell has worked in sports and business communications for many years, after starting his career in journalism.

He’s worked across the UK and Europe, with sports rights holders, athletes, and corporates, focusing on partnerships, investment and fund-raising, sponsorships, activations, and launches.

As a reporter, he followed Tiger Woods around the Open Championship, door-stepped Roy Keane when he was kicked out of the World Cup, and asked Alex Ferguson if Wayne Rooney was a good role model for teenage boys as he was unveiled as a Manchester United player.

Following a move into corporate communications, Adam’s worked with global companies including Pepsico, Beko, and Syngenta, on all things from Champions League sponsorships, world basketball championships activations, to brand ambassador partnerships for world champion downhill skiers, as well as launching a shirt sponsorship deal with FC Barcelona on the pitch of the Camp Nou with six days notice.

With a grounding in news, business and sports communications, he understands the competing and sometimes conflicting demands facing sports bodies, athletes, and corporates face and helps them navigate their way through.

Adam now leads Chapel Street Group, a communications consultancy supporting business and sports organisations, including global sports rights holders and Olympic athletes.

Adam is member of the CIPR and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, as well as a junior football coach.
